Bio

Dr. Di Guglielmo received his MD/PhD from Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia in 2004. He completed a pediatric residency at Nemours/Thomas Jefferson University in Wilmington, Delaware, in 2007. He practiced in Northern Delaware as a primary care pediatrician for four years before returning to Nemours in 2011. After 8 years working as the “Access Pediatrician” in the Nemours Pediatric Gastroenterology outpatient clinic, he was named Director of the Division of General Academic Pediatrics at Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware in 2019.

He serves as a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics of Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. He is an Assistant Research Scientist in the Department of Biomedical Research at Nemours. He was appointed Vice-Chair of Nemours IRB 1 in 2020 and he has been the program director of the academic general pediatrics fellowship since 2016.

As Division Director, Dr. Di Guglielmo leads a diverse group of faculty, including 16 inpatient hospitalists and 5 nurse practitioners; 11 outpatient academic pediatricians; 3 pediatric child abuse specialists, nurse practitioner, and social worker; and a 10 provider team of healthy weight and wellness specialists. The Division supports training for up to three fellows, two in pediatric hospital medicine and one in academic general pediatrics. The Division is also responsible for the majority of resident and medical student teaching at Nemours.

His research efforts have focused on health care delivery, children with bowel dysfunction and obesity, and appetite regulation; more recently, he has focused on infant nutrition and the gut microbiome. In addition to pediatric research and clinical care in the primary care clinic, Dr. Di Guglielmo devotes time to physician well-being, faculty development, mentorship, and advocacy.

Dr. Di Guglielmo has been named a Top Doctor by DelawareToday®, and he has consistently won the Nemours Physician Appreciation Award related to excellent patient service. In 2018, he was awarded the Outstanding Outpatient Preceptor of the Year at Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware by the graduating pediatric residents. Dr. Di Guglielmo was also the recipient of the Nemours Physician Service Excellence Award in 2019.

He lives in Wilmington, Delaware, with his wife and daughters, and a faithful rescued black Labrador retriever mix. His interests outside of Nemours include family history/genealogy, knitting, hiking, running, biking, music, movies, mindfulness, and great restaurants.
